Marathon: Unlock Exclusive Rewards with Twitch Drops
During the special Server Slam weekend for Bungie's highly anticipated extraction shooter, Marathon, players have a unique opportunity to acquire exclusive in-game items. Unlike scavenging for weapons or implants within the game's world, these cosmetic rewards, such as a charming worm sticker and Twitch-themed camouflage, are obtainable only through participating in Twitch Drops. This limited-time event offers a range of aesthetic enhancements that will be available to players upon the game's official launch on March 5.
As an extraction shooter, Marathon centers on the thrill of securing valuable loot and customizing your character. The Server Slam event introduces a distinct method for players to expand their in-game inventory by engaging with Twitch streams. Bungie has prepared a collection of five exclusive items that are time-sensitive, meaning players must act quickly to secure them before the event concludes. While this specific set of rewards is only available for a short period, Bungie is expected to host additional Twitch Drop events closer to the game's official release, offering new opportunities for players to further personalize their experience.
The Server Slam open preview weekend for Marathon is scheduled from Thursday, February 26, to Monday, March 2. During this window, participants can earn several exclusive items. These include the Twitch Sponsored Kit, a bundle of standard in-game gear, and the SMILEYworm profile emblem, both requiring one hour of watch time. Further engagement will unlock the WEAVEworm profile background after two hours, the GLOWworm weapon sticker after three hours, and the HMG Twitch Engine weapon skin after four hours of viewing participating streams.
To qualify for these Twitch Drops, players must first link their Bungie and Twitch accounts. This involves creating a Bungie account if you don't already have one, and then connecting it to your Twitch account through the 'settings' and 'account linking' sections on Bungie.net. Once linked, players simply need to watch any Drops-enabled stream for the specified duration. Streams eligible for drops will typically feature a 'Drops Enabled' tag, and often a notification will appear at the top of the chat. It is advised to claim earned rewards promptly from your Twitch inventory, as they may occasionally disappear after 24 hours.
All acquired rewards will be delivered directly to the player's linked Bungie.net account and will become accessible within the game upon its launch on March 5. It's important to note that these items cannot be used during the Server Slam itself. Bungie has also indicated that the Twitch Sponsored Kit may take up to 48 hours to appear in a player's in-game mailbox after launch, so patience is key if it doesn't show up immediately.
