A Comprehensive Guide to the 'Flexile Spines' Quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong
This comprehensive guide delves into the nuances of the 'Flexile Spines' quest within the highly anticipated game, Hollow Knight: Silksong. Players are tasked with collecting a specific number of 'Spine Cores' from creatures known as Hokers to deliver to the Seamstress, which ultimately unlocks a crucial new ability that significantly enhances traversal and combat capabilities. The following sections will detail the quest's starting location, optimal strategies for gathering the required items, and the invaluable reward awaiting successful completion.
To embark on the 'Flexile Spines' quest, adventurers must first journey to the Far Fields region, situated to the east of the Deep Docks. Within this expansive area, locate a distinct, balloon-like dwelling. Upon entering this unique structure, seek out the Seamstress. Engaging in dialogue with her will formally initiate the quest, setting you on your path to collect the elusive Spine Cores.
The primary objective of the 'Flexile Spines' quest is to accumulate 25 Spine Cores, which are exclusively dropped by creatures called Hokers. Conveniently, these adversaries are found in close proximity to the Seamstress's residence. After exiting her home, descend the series of hanging platforms to your right and proceed through the eastern exit. This path leads directly into an area teeming with the very Hokers you need to defeat.
Hokers are distinctive for the sharp spikes they carry, which they discharge upon being struck. The number and trajectory of these spikes vary when they regenerate, typically appearing as four or six projectiles. To effectively collect Spine Cores, it's crucial to understand that the cores are not dropped directly by the defeated Hoker but rather by striking the spikes they fire. Therefore, a strategic approach involves hitting the Hoker, dodging its retaliatory spike barrage, and then interacting with the scattered spikes to collect the cores. Hokers regenerate their spikes after each hit and usually succumb after about three strikes. After defeating approximately five to seven Hokers, you should have amassed the necessary 25 Spine Cores. Should you require more Hokers, simply rest on the bench inside the Seamstress's home to prompt their respawn.
Upon successfully delivering the 25 Spine Cores to the Seamstress, she will bestow upon you the Drifter's Cloak. This transformative item grants Hornet the ability to glide after a jump and to ride air currents, significantly expanding her horizontal reach. To activate this new power, simply hold the jump button while airborne. When combined with other mobility skills such as Swift Step for sprinting and dashing, the Drifter's Cloak profoundly alters navigation and tactical options within the game, opening up new areas and combat approaches.
